In Person Lessons

Personalized 30, 45 or 60-min lessons at my Alberta Street studio location in Portland.

Virtual Lessons

Personalized 30, 45 or 60-min lessons from the comfort of your home using Google Hangouts.

Choose the right duration for you.

30 Minutes

A one-on-one lesson tailored specifically to your goals, experience and interests. Generally recommended for younger students.

45 Minutes

This is a popular choice for most students. We take time together to develop practice techniques and investigate the inevitable rabbit-holes that arise when exploring music.

60 Minutes

I suggest this for more experienced players or those interested in concepts such as theory, composition, ear training, or those studying multiple instruments.

Try a session for free and see if it’s awesome for you.

There’s no commitment, pressure, or obligation.

What to expect.

Lessons begin with tuning our instruments followed by a warm up, usually reviewing what you have been practicing since our last lesson. We will examine any challenges or questions you are having and explore further.

The last few minutes of each lesson are spent discussing a personalized practice plan for the following week.

If you came to the studio with a parent, they’re welcome to wait in the parent & family lounge.

Virtual lessons can be recorded for your convenience.

FAQs

What if I don’t have my own instrument yet?

I have electric & acoustic guitars, 4 & 5 string electric basses and a keyboard that you are welcome to use until you find your own.

Can my kids take lessons together?

I offer group lessons up to 2 siblings, friends or parent & child.

Will I be able to observe my child’s lesson?

Yes! You are always welcome in the room with us. However, often students are most comfortable and courageous with no direct parental intervention. There is a large viewing window from the lounge into the lesson studio which you can comfortably check in on your loved one from a respectful distance.

What happens once I book my lesson online?

Once your session is booked through the website, you’ll see a confirmation page with details for the booking and a Google Hangouts link for the video call (which will go live the day of your lesson) You’ll also receive an email confirmation. Both confirmations will include links where you can cancel or reschedule an appointment if needed.

How are payments made?

For virtual lessons I accept credit/debit card payments and for In Person lessons you can pay with credit/debit and also have the option to pay in cash. Either way, at the time of booking online, you’ll be asked to input your credit card so I have it securely on file. At the end of our lesson, depending on your choice, I’ll either charge the card I have on file for you, add a new card, or accept your cash and mark your lesson as paid. If you registered an account with me online at the time of booking, your credit card info will be securely stored for more easily making payments later on.

What if I’m not 100% sure I want to take lessons with you?

Sign up for a trial lesson, this gives us an opportunity to meet and discuss your musical background and goals without any pressure.

Trial lessons can be booked here and are 30 minutes and completely free of charge. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing each other again next week!

I registered on your website, how do I log in?

To log in, visit the Book a Lesson page and sign in where it says “Returning Student? Log in”. Here you can manage your scheduled lessons.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

As long as the change isn’t within 24 hours of the lesson, you can cancel or re-schedule free of charge by clicking the link in your confirmation email to do so. Alternatively, if you have an account registered with me, you can log in on the Book a Lesson page to manage your scheduled lessons.

Do you have any Covid-19 precautions in place?

For in-person lessons masks are recommended, hand sanitizer provided and all instruments, surfaces and shared spaces sanitized before and after each lesson. Please do not attend in-person lessons if you are feeling ill or have been in contact with anyone known to have Covid-19 or related symptoms.
